Carnation - Symbol of 25 April
The carnation, a historic plant and symbol of freedom in Portugal, is one of the oldest ornamental flowers in the world. Easy to grow, it attracts butterflies and naturally repels ants. The red clove (Dianthus caryophyllus) is a perennial flower of Mediterranean origin, recognised for its pleasant scent and showy flowers. This variety, with its double scarlet red flowers, is ideal for flowerbeds, borders and pots.
Cultivation:
It prefers sandy soil, rich in organic matter and well-drained. It likes full sun, but can also adapt to half shade. Requires regular watering, without waterlogging.
